‘A Ticket to Tewkesbury’ by Neal James

A Ticket to Tewkesbury

On discovering a fifty-year-old love letter, Julie Martin uncovers a series of events leading back to Nazi Germany. Secret files from MI5 and the mysterious ‘Organisation’, brings to light documents that have remained hidden for half a century.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and the premise initially sparked my curiosity. However, while I liked the idea of it (a modern-day detective story revealing a post-war mystery), and the way the plot unfolded, I did find the book a little difficult to get into. This may have been due to the author’s writing style, or, more likely, to my own nit-picking tendencies (sorry). Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable read with a thoughtful attention to detail and enough twisty-turny bits to keep me interested.
