‘The Little Sister’ by Raymond Chandler

The Little Sister

Orfamay Quest lands in the office of PI Philip Marlowe with twenty dollars and a request that he finds her brother. Marlowe takes the case, but when first one then a second corpse turns up, things get complicated and the private eye’s search leads him into a circle of gangsters, Hollywood actors and an ice-pick wielding killer…

The Little Sister is Chandler’s fifth novel featuring his inimitable hero Philip Marlowe. This book felt a tad more complicated than the other novels with a lot of twists and turns, but no less enjoyable. Chandler’s dry sense of humour and witty one-liners are always pleasing and often get me chuckling – ‘Go ahead and faint,’ I said. ‘I’ll catch you on the first bounce.’

A must for all Chandler fans.

I like the sound of this humour, Colin. Nice review.
