Teenager Anne Frank’s record of life in a secret annexe for more than two years during World War Two, is a unique document, portraying innocence and humanity, suffering and survival in the starkest and most moving terms.
This version of Anne’s diary brings together all the versions of the book, and includes her original diary, her own editorial notes on earlier entries and those sections omitted by her father when the book was first published, such as her thoughts about sex. Though Anne couldn’t have known she’d end her days dying of typhus fever in Bergen-Belsen, she showed great insight into her situation. Nevertheless, it is the ordinary, everyday comments of a young girl dealing with life that make this book so fascinating.

This book and Helter Skelter, about the Charles Manson family, were two of my favourite books as a young teenager, Colin. I was fascinated by these real life events that were so far from my own life.
