‘Blowing the Bloody Doors Off’ by Michael Caine

My Review (5 stars out of 5)

Written in his 85th year veteran British actor Michael Caine looks back on his life with a view to highlighting what he’s learned. Although primarily aimed at those with a yen for performance, his advice is useful for anyone wanting to better themselves. With stories and anecdotes from his more than 170 movies, he relates those things he’s done right as well as those he’s done wrong, and the different impacts each had on his life and career.

Though it’s fair to say there’s a bit of overlap in this book to his previous autobiographical tomes, it’s nevertheless an entertaining read and shows off Caine’s storytelling talent and ability to dissect events and understand how to move forward. As a life-long fan of the man, I thoroughly enjoyed Blowing the Bloody Doors Off and can recommend it to anyone who likes actors who’ve stuck to their roots and (unlike some) have not been dazzled by the bright lights of Hollywood into believing their own publicity.

Witty and delightful.

Michael Caine is great. This sounds like an interesting autobiography, Colin.
