‘Personal’ by Lee Child

My Review (5 stars out of 5)

On a bus heading for Seattle, Jack Reacher picks up a copy of the Army Times. In the personals column he finds a message aimed at one particular person – Jack Reacher. Having already read about someone taking a shot at the French president, and knowing he owes someone a favour from way back, Reacher knows he’ll have to respond.

This is book 19 in the Reacher series and as usual it features a fair bit of violence. When Reacher is sent off to Paris to hunt down a sniper, he meets up with representatives from other countries, including Russia. Unfortunately, not all of them survive the visit and Reacher is re-routed to England where a G8 summit is planned. Working out who the target will be and finding the killer before he pulls the trigger, is Reacher’s task. But can he find the man before times runs out? Along the way, he meets a gang leader even taller than himself, and a bunch of criminals who drive around in posh cars and who seemingly have information they really shouldn’t have access to.

Though there isn’t a massive amount of action in this one (as with the earlier books), the plot fizzes along at a heady pace and kept my interest from start to finish.
