My Review (4 stars out of 5)
This is book six in the DI Gillian Marsh series, and the first I’ve read by this author. The story concerns a murder investigation where the list of suspects gives the police plenty to think about. Detective Marsh is out of the picture for some of the tale due to a bereavement, but she storms back into the fray to track down missing officer DC Macfadyen.
Having been promoted to Detective Chief Inspector, and with things moving on in her love life, Gillian Marsh is an interesting character who gives this off-beat, but down to earth police procedural a run for its money. On the whole, this is an enjoyable story with lots of suspects and some nice character descriptions. The plot felt a little slow to get going, tempting me to skip forwards, however, there’s enough twisty-turny bits to keep thriller-lovers hooked.
Enjoyable thriller with a distinctive central character.
