‘We Should All Be Feminists’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

My Review (5 stars out of 5)

Best-selling author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s book is based on her 2013 TEDx Talk of the same name. It explains what it means to be a feminist using examples from her own experiences and her understanding of sexual politics.

This is a short and enlightening read that describes in simple terms what it means to be feminist in today’s world. Anyone who believes in equality and the importance of respecting each other should read this book. Although she talks a lot of sense, like a few other reviewers, I didn’t agree with the author’s view that women should thank their partners/husbands for doing domestic chores like changing nappies.

A thought-provoking essay on gender inequality, injustice and the need for mutual respect.

Hi Colin, I always thank my husband when he helps me. He thanks me for dinner and things like that. An interesting sounding book.

Of course – we should all thank each other, but not because men need to be congratulated for helping out with domestic duties – it should be normal for men and women to share all the responsibilities of running the home 😉
