‘A Litter of Bones’ by JD Kirk

My Review (5 stars out of 5)

The memory of catching child-killer ‘Mister Whisper’ comes back to haunt DCI Jack Logan when another child goes missing. But with the original perpetrator locked up years earlier, this must be a copycat. Trouble is, some of the details relating to the case are scarily familiar and Logan starts to wonder if he might have locked up the wrong man.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it certainly won’t be the last. The book begins with an abduction that prompts DCI Logan to make the journey up to the Highlands to join the team leading the investigation. JD Kirk’s writing is sharp and clever, and he keeps the tension notched up almost without a break. Even a stop off at the local chippie to give the team a welcome snack rest turns up another clue. From there on the action is hard and fast with more twists than Chubby Checker on speed.

I loved this book from start to finish and have just ordered book two in the series, Thicker Than Water.
