My Review (5 stars out of 5)
Aberdeen mother and daughter singing sensation Alison and Jenny McGregor make it through to the semi-finals of a TV talent show. But their growing popularity rockets when the pair are kidnapped. A ransom demand calls for money – lots of it – and if the target isn’t met, the singing duo will be killed.
This is book seven in the Logan McRae thriller series. Having read the first six books several years ago, I thought it about time I caught up with the series. DS Logan McRae and his cop pals struggle to track down the kidnappers as time runs out on a ransom demand. Lack of evidence and too many dead-ends cause frustration and arguments among the team. Also, the presence of idiot-cop Superintendent Green only serves to irritate everyone concerned. When Logan and his girlfriend Sam are targeted in their own flat, DS McRae takes matters into his own hands – a situation which could easily lose him his job and land him in jail.
This series is always good fun and being set in Aberdeen, which I know very well, makes it even more appealing. Having said that, some of the scenes where the author describes routes around the city often make no sense, with cars driving up the wrong roads in the wrong direction to places that aren’t there. Think Stuart should check out Google Maps.
Anyway, an entertaining read with a thrilling denouement.

This sounds good, Colin. Your final comments made me laugh. I’ve had to use google maps before.
