My Review (4 stars out of 5)
The Green Viper is book 4 in the James Ryker series, and the first I’ve read by this author. Following a mysterious message, Ryker sets out to track down the son of his dead boss, who has got himself embroiled in a dangerous world of drugs and gangster types. To begin with I found the plot a tad confusing and had to re-read some passages to get a grip on what was happening. Luckily, the tempo soon picked up enough to distract me with lots of Jason Bourne-type action as our hero tackles New York bad guys in his quest to save unlucky Scott Campbell. With the FBI pushing themselves into the mix as well as the bad guys, Ryker has a lot to deal with, but naturally comes out on top in the end.
It’s fair to say I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I’d expected, which is down to my own fussy editor’s eye more than the author’s ability. But the book is an enjoyable read with plenty of twists and turns and will appeal to lovers of fast-moving thrillers.
