‘Troubled Times for Tilly’ by Kay Seeley

My Review (4 stars out of 5)

This is book 2 in the Water Gypsy series, though you don’t have to have read the first one to understand what’s already happened. Tilly and Sam strive to make a safe home for themselves and their children, though Tilly’s older son—Joey—is the offspring of a wealthy father, allowing him benefits not available to the other children. Unfortunately, the forthcoming Celebration Ball casts a dark shadow which could cause problems for Tilly and everything she has worked for.

The author’s writing is very readable and her characters—for the most part—believable. While not a huge fan of family dramas, this was an enjoyable read, although the pace is a little slow at times. Overall, it was a pleasant tale which will appeal to fans of historical sagas, class struggles, and family secrets.

This sounds like a difficult situation for the entire family. Thanks for sharing about this book.
